Threads from Shantiniketan, Chosen by Hand

Shantiniketan is more than a town in Bengal — it’s a living tradition. Born from Rabindranath Tagore’s vision of art, nature, and craft woven into everyday life, this small corner of West Bengal has spent over a century nurturing some of India’s finest handloom weavers, Kantha embroiderers, and batik artists. We started this business because we believe these crafts deserve to be seen, worn, and celebrated far beyond the lanes where they’re made.

Our Story

Every piece in our collection begins the same way: we travel to the weaving clusters and artisan homes around Shantiniketan, sit with the makers, and choose each garment ourselves — thread by thread, print by print. Nothing here is mass-produced or picked off a catalogue. What you find on our site is what we held in our own hands first, checked for quality, and genuinely loved enough to bring home to our customers.
That’s what “handpicked” means to us. Not a marketing word — a promise.

Why We Do This

Handloom and Kantha work is slow, skilled, and increasingly rare. Behind every Kantha stitch and every handwoven cotton or tussar saree is an artisan whose craft has often been passed down for generations. By buying directly from these makers and keeping our own operation simple, we’re able to pay fair prices upstream — and still offer you honest, reasonable prices, without the heavy markups that usually come with “ethnic” or “boutique” labels.
In short: real craftsmanship, real people, and a price that respects both you and the artisan.

What You Can Expect From Us

  • Handpicked, not mass-sourced — every item is personally selected for quality and character
  • Fair pricing — no inflated “heritage” premiums, just honest value
  • Authentic craft — genuine Shantiniketan handloom, Kantha, and batik work, not imitations
  • A direct connection to the makers — your purchase supports artisan livelihoods, not middlemen
